The practice is back (and it grew up)
A few years ago I ran a small practice in Victoria called Heavenly Embodiment. I offered somatic sex education, hypnosis, and, later, Qi Gong to anyone curious enough to knock on the door. Some of the most meaningful work of my life happened in that little room.
Then life did what life does. I stepped back, kept practising, kept learning, and kept noticing the same thing everywhere I looked: men are starving for this. Not for more information, since we’re drowning in that. Men are starving to feel at home in their own skin, and to have other men to be real with.
So the practice is back, and it’s grown up a bit.
What’s new
- It’s focused on men. One-to-one coaching for men who want a better relationship with their body, their sexuality, and their own nervous system.
- There are circles now. Small groups of men breathing, moving, and speaking honestly together. I’ve facilitated groups for most of my working life, and nothing I’ve seen heals as quickly as a room where men stop pretending.
- It has a spine. The work is organised around the Three Treasures of Taoist medicine: Jing (body and sexual vitality), Qi (breath and life force), and Shen (spirit and mind). It’s an old map, and it still works.
What hasn’t changed
The heart of it. I still believe we’re far more magnificent than we usually allow ourselves to be, and that the way back to that isn’t more striving. It’s pleasure, presence, and practice.
